Sharing the WinLog Folder

Create Workstation Desktop Shortcut Icon


The following are the XP instructions. My apoligies to you Vista users. We have not made the transition to Vista ourselves. Our software runs on Vista with no reported issues. Not being users of the now abaondoned Vista OS, we cannot give top notch technical Vista instructions. Vista users may find this Microsoft TechNet article of some assistance:

On the Workstation Connected to the Identifier

Go to "My Computer" or Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer)

Go to the Drive where WinLog program is installed, e.g. Local Disk (C:)

Go to the WinLog Folder (i.e. C:\Program Files\yestelecom\WinLog)













Click the "Sharing" Tab

Check "Share this Folder on the Network"
Check "Allow network users to change my files"

NOTE: It is important that both boxes are checked.

Give the Shared Folder a "Share Name" (e.g. WinLog)





Making the Workstation's Desktop Shortcut Icon

On All the Other Workstations





Right Click on the Desktop

Select "New"





Select New "Shortcut"






Click "Browse"

Go to My Network Places, Select the WinLog Shared Folder.





In the WinLog Shared Folder, Double Click "WinLog" (or WinLog.exe)

Click "Next" then Click "Finish"

Right Click the Shortcut Icon and Select Properties

Check that Start In is set to the same folder as in Target

Double Click the new WinLog Icon

Select "W" instead of COM port, Click OK
